Mission Statement

One gets the impression that providing Darien high school students with a meaningful life experience is a major objective of Post 53. What would be the reaction if the Cleveland Clinic issued the following mission statement: our objective is to provide excellent medical care while providing our doctors, nurses and other staff but especially our doctors with a fantastic income and lifestyle? Do you think that people might be concerned that priorities were misplaced? Similarly, does it make sense to slow paramedic response times so that high school students can be called first responders? Why wouldn't you want the most well trained professionals, paramedics, to get to a patient as quickly as possible? Why would you put the experience of high school students on an equal footing with or ahead of patients? Stay tuned. Walter Casey.
