READY for the Darien Road Race? SET for 1 p.m. Sunday. GO!

The race route stretches along scenic waterfront roads and includes two events, a 10-km (6.2 mi.) and a 1.5 m. fun run called "The Loop."

An announcement from the Community Fund of Darien:

The 35th Annual Darien Road Race will take place at 1 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 14 at Pear Tree Point Beach. The race route, which stretches along scenic waterfront roads, includes two events, a 10-kilometer (6.2 miles) and a 1.5 mile fun run called “The Loop.” The Darien Road Race benefits The Community Fund of Darien.

Participants can register online at www.darienroadrace.org or turn in race entry forms to The Community Fund of Darien, 701 Post Rd., Darien, CT 06820. Pre-registered runners can pick up their t-shirts and bib numbers at The Community Fund of Darien office on Friday, Sept. 12 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Runners can also pre-register or pick up their numbers and t-shirts at Equinox Darien, 72 Heights Rd. on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 9 to 11. Equinox has invited Darien Road Race participants to use the club before or after their bib pickup and take advantage of Equinox’s signature classes, steam rooms or fitness floors in preparation for the race.

Following the race, awards will be presented to the runners with the fastest finish times. Runners and family members can enjoy food trucks, music and games at the “finish line” tent at Pear Tree Point Beach.

RACE ENTRY:

  • Pre-entry fee: $40. Race day fee: $45 for individuals over 12;

$20 for individuals 12 and younger

  • Complete race entry forms at The Community Fund of Darien, 701 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820; open weekdays 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Bib and t-shirt pick up Friday September 12 at The Community Fund office or Saturday Sept.13, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Equinox Darien, 72 Heights Road
  • Race day check-in and registration is at Pear Tree Point Beach: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. sharp
  • Cash, credit cards or personal check made payable to Darien Road Race

AWARDS:

  • 10K: Men and women 1st, 2nd, 3rd place overall & by age group
  • “The Loop”(1.5 miles): 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th overall

PARKING:

Parking at Pear Tree Point Beach is limited. Access to the beach and road

will be closed at 12:30 or when the lot is full. Look for off-site parking

and please carpool.

DIRECTIONS:

I-95 Exit 10, go south on Noroton Ave. to US-1 (Post Road). Turn left

onto US-1, go one block then turn right onto Ring’s End Road. Go straight,

cross over bridge, and turn right on Pear Tree Point Road. Bear right at

the fork, go 1 mile to Pear Tree Point Beach on the right.
