Silvermine Gallery Director to Judge 57th Annual Darien Art Show and Sale
Jeffrey Mueller will judge the juried art show. Registration is available online through May 26.

Jeffrey Mueller, Gallery Director at Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan, will judge the 57th Annual Art Show and Sale at the Darien Arts Center (darienarts.org), which will be held Saturday, May 30, through Saturday, June 6, at the DAC Weatherstone Studio.
In addition to his extensive work at Silvermine, Mueller is an adjunct Art History professor at SUNY Purchase, Sacred Heart University and Western Connecticut State University.
Mueller has worked one on one with many artists including those at Silvermine, where there is a membership of nearly 300 artists; many who have work in major museum collections throughout the country.

He also has twenty years of experience as an art curator, curating over two hundred exhibitions at institutions throughout Connecticut and New York. He has worked with Christie’s Auction House, George Eastman House, The Hyde Collection, DC Moore Gallery, Jack Shainman Gallery, Pace Prints and GLE editions. Mueller holds a BFA in Photography from RIT, and an MA from SUNY Purchase in Modern and Contemporary Art/Criticism and Theory.
The 57th Annual Art Show and Sale offers cash awards and is open to DAC students and children and adults who live or work in Darien.

Nonresidents may also enter the show with a donation to the organization. Entries are welcome in a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawing/pastel, mixed media/printmaking, sculpture, color photography and black & white photography. The winner of Best in Show will be given a solo exhibit in the Town Hall in the spring of 2016.
Darien Rowayton Bank is lead corporate sponsor and Nielsen’s Florist is corporate sponsor of the Art Show and Sale. Prize sponsors are Atria, Ben Larrabee Photography, Darien Sport Shop, Dr. David Osherow D.D.S., The Sugar Bowl, Wilson Avenue Loft Artists, and William Taufic Photography.
Art show sponsors are Baubles, Brown & Co., Darien Carpet, Everything is Rosey, Fabricare, Folly, Fredric & Company, Grieb’s Pharmacy, Kumon of Darien, and Wineport of Darien.
Registration is available online at darienarts.org through May 26 at 7 p.m. Artists may enter up to two pieces of artwork, with an entry fee of $20 per submission for adults and $10 per piece for children. Adults submitting two pieces must designate at least one for sale. A 25% commission on each sale will benefit the DAC. All interested artists are encouraged to pre-register online.
Artists may bring their work to the DAC Weatherstone Studio, behind Town Hall at 2 Renshaw Rd. in Darien, on Tuesday, May 26 from 2 to 8 p.m. only. All pieces must be ready to hang with a wire on the back, or, if needed, the DAC will provide assistance with wiring at the drop-off site for a small fee.
The awards reception will be held Friday, May 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. The show will be open for public viewing every day from Saturday, May 30, through Saturday, June 6, from noon to 5 p.m.
