Unique Food Hall Delivery Chain Opens In Darien

DARIEN, CT — Wonder, a unique food hall delivery chain, has opened its eighth Connecticut location in Darien.

Located at 306 Post Road in the space formerly occupied by Duchess, Wonder Darien celebrated its grand opening on July 16.

Wonder partners with world-renowned chefs, such as Bobby Flay, Marcus Samuelsson and Michael Symon, along with well-known restaurants like DiFara Pizza and Magnolia Bakery out of NY, and Tejas BBQ from Dallas, Texas, among others, to create menus and dishes spanning a variety of cuisines - all under one roof.

Diners can order dishes from 20-plus restaurants and cuisines in a single order – available for dine-in, pickup, or delivery. Each dish is made to order in a Wonder storefront and delivered fast and free.

Wonder undertakes sourcing, prep, kitchen operations, and delivery. Ordering is primarily completed online, although customers can come into Wonder storefronts and order at kiosks.

There are dozens of locations across Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Washington, D.C.

Other CT locations include Danbury, Fairfield, Milford, New Haven, Newington, Stamford and Westport. A new location in Trumbull is set to open this week.

Wonder has eyed Darien for some time.

The brand previously applied for a special permit to open a location on the ground floor at 1897 Boston Post Road, but the application was withdrawn from consideration last May after residents spoke against the proposed location.

Last September, the Darien Planning & Zoning Commission approved Wonder's request for a restaurant tenant substitution at 306 Post Road by a 3-1 vote.

The Darien Duchess closed in February after years in business.
