Boy, 5, Left to Wander Streets 2 Miles from CT Home, After School Bus Driver Leaves Him Behind

The driver said he couldn't find the child's home.

WATERBURY, CT β€” A Durham School Services school bus driver reportedly was fired this week after he kicked a 5-year-old boy off the bus - two miles from the child's home - after the driver said he couldn't find the student's Waterbury home.

The child was forced to wander the streets for a while on Monday afternoon before a Cheshire police officer spotted him and took him to the Waterbury Police Department where officers notified his parents, reports Fox61 News. The boy is a student at Margaret M. Gnerali Elementary School in Waterbury near Cheshire.

According to district officials, the child wears a special bracelet indicating he is not to be dropped off without a parent present, but the driver ordered him off the bus after the last stop, two miles from the child's home, according to Fox61.
