Durham Considers Spending Millions on New Public Safety Headquarters
But first, the town will hold a public hearing on the issue in August.

DURHAM, CT — Town officials are considering creating a new public safety headquarters in Durham that would encompass the fire department, resident trooper's office, ambulance corps and other emergency personnel.
The complex would be built on town-owned properties on Main Street adjacent to - and including - the current firehouse, reports the Meriden Record-Journal. The exact cost to renovate the structures on the properties to create the complex is unknown. Town officials had looked at the issue a few years ago and estimated it could cost more than $13 million, but they hope it would cost less.
Officials will host a public hearing on the proposal at 8 p.m. on Aug. 3 at Durham Public Library.
