Durham Taking Over Former Korn Elementary School Building Inches Closer: Report

Town and Board of Education officials have been negotiating the "complicated transaction" for weeks.

DURHAM, CT — Town and Board of Education officials are continuing negotiations over Durham taking over the former Korn Elementary School building, but the discussions are more complex than simply handing over the keys, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.

The building could become a community and/or senior center, but Durham First Selectman Laura Francis calls the negotiation a "complicated transaction." The school system recently held a tag sale of excess furniture at the school.

Among the issues facing the town are the cost of operating a building a building of that size, a prospect that could become expensive.
