Rick Gurczynski Closes Family's Gas Station in Durham after 42 Years
The Meriden resident is ready for retirement.

DURHAM, CT - Meriden resident Rick Gurczynski, whose family ran a gas station in Durham for the past 42 years, is closing the facility and heading off into retirement.
Located at the intersection of routes 17 and 77, he has worked at the station since 1974 when he was 18, reports the Meriden Record-Journal. He now plans to enjoy some fishing, traveling and other pursuits of retirement.
The full-service station, one of the last of a vanishing breed, will reopen in a few months as a convenience store and self-serve gas station.
