EAST HAMPTON – East Hampton resident Kyle Amtmanis, a junior at the Middletown Agriculture Science and Technology program located at Middletown High School, was a winning team member at the 2012-2013 Connecticut FFA Forestry Career Development Event contest held at the Lockwood Farm campus of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven, CT on December 6th. Amtmanis is the son of Amanda Amtmanis of East Hampton, CT.
Amtmanis was joined by fellow students Maria Cherry and Stephanie Vopelak, both of Middletown; and Liam Mellaly of Clinton. The Forestry Career Development Event evaluates students’ knowledge of forest management practices, tree identification and measurement, and industry safety standards. The Middletown team will represent the state of Connecticut in regional and national competition this fall, at the 2013 Big E Eastern States Exposition and National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY.
All students are members of the Mattabeset FFA Chapter, the youth leadership organization associated with the Middletown Agriculture Science and Technology program based at Middletown High School. The Middletown Regional Agriculture Science & Technology Program is available to high school students from Chester, Clinton, Clinton, Deep River, Durham, East Hampton, Essex, Guilford, Haddam, Killingworth, Madison, Middlefield, Middletown, Portland, Rocky Hill, Old Saybrook and Westbrook.
