Kim Nowakowski Wins Yale Book Award

Kimberly Grace Nowakowski, daughter of Andrew and Virginia Nowakowski of East Hampton, was recently awarded the Yale Book Award at a ceremony in New Haven.

High schools throughout the nation annually select an exceptional eleventh grade student for his or her "outstanding personal character and intellectual promise.”

Kim was named as East Hampton High School’s winner of the award in the spring and received the book, The Yale Book of Quotations, on October 16. The high school’s library received a copy of Stephen Hawking’s The Universe in a Nutshell to commemorate Kim’s achievement.

While at East Hampton High School, Kim has participated on the school’s indoor and outdoor track teams and captained the soccer team. She has also served on the Interact Club, the Bellringer newspaper, and is the historian of the Ferrigno-Bell Chapter of the National Honor Society.

Kim also participates in a number of activities at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in East Hampton.
