Monday in Portland: Sen. Art Linares Updates Seniors

Sen. Art Linares will visit the Portland Senior Center at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, March 25 to provide area seniors with a State Capitol update. 

 

Sen. Linares will discuss legislation being debated in Hartford and provide an overview of the state budget.

“I look forward to speaking with area seniors and answering their questions,” Sen. Linares said.

On Friday, Sen. Linares testified in favor of a bill which will repeal the current state law which allows violent felons, including rapists, kidnappers, and those who abuse the elderly and disabled to get released early from prison. 

 

Last week, Sen. Linares spoke out against the proposal to tax home heating oil.  Sen. Linares’ Thursday March 21 town hall meeting in East Hampton with Rep. Melissa Ziobron drew more than 50 taxpayers.

 

The senior center is located at 7 Waverly Ave.
