East Hampton Slams the Door on Red Raiders.

Boys Soccer

The East Hampton High School boys soccer team totally dominated an under maned Derby High eleven to walk away with a 5-0 shut out. The Red Raiders were not only kept scoreless but they did not even manage a shot on goal until they waning moments of the contest when the younger players were on the pitch.

The game was played at the beautiful Oakwood facility in Portland on a newly constructed turf field. After many attempts and and an unrelenting attack Nate Landry tallied first with a strong deflection from a Jordan Casey cross. Next to score was Sean Pedavillano on a rocket from long range. Jordan Casey  giving the defenders fits all day finally tallied one of his own on a prefect rainbow from 20 yards out. The already reeling Derby side saw a Dan Wall long distance set up kick from 30 yards away just make it over the outstretched arms of the shocked Derby goalie. To top off a strong offensive performance, Cody Mallory finished a strong Bellringer run with a tap in from the right side to complete the scoring.

The some times schizophrenic Bellringers have chosen the state tournament to wake up and play team soccer. The offense was lively and diverse with 5 different players scoring. The defense was impenetrable. Sweeper Nate Heroux scorched any player even approaching the box. He also continued to make strong offensive attempts in the Derby box. Marking Backs Ben Boscarino and Phil Moon shut down their men and Nick Barber turned in possibly his best defensive game of the year. A very good all round team effort.Next up for the Bellringer side are the Rams of Old Saybrook. Old Saybrook beat Coginchaug 3-1 to advance. This quaterfinal contest should be a repeat of the physical game played earlier in the year by the two teams in old Saybrook. The game is at 2:00pm At EHHS and should prove to be a great one come out and support Bellringer Soccer.
