Fashion Faux Pas!

I recently visited a resort in Mexico and spent 9 days people watching! The great thing about going to a resort is having the ability to view fashion from many different countries, some wonderful and some you find yourself saying oh my.  During my vacation, I was able to spend a great amount of time with several people from England, Germany and many other countries.  I used this time to discuss recent fashion, style and opinions about fashion.

Let me start by saying, size does not always matter! You must learn to dress to fit and flatter your body.  It was amazing to me that the larger women seemed to have the best fashion style, where the smaller women and men had the greatest amount of Fashion Faux Pas! 

As I stated in earlier blogs, yes Fedoras’ are in, not only in the USA but in most countries around the world.  The Fedoras’ could be seen all over the resort, during the day and in the evening!

Skinny jeans, well o.k. yes they look wonderful on all women regardless of the size as long as they fit properly.  Please, buy what fits not by size! A size 22 women that has on skinny jeans that properly allows her body to fit in her jeans is a pleasant sight, however a size 5 wearing a size 3 can be a scary scene. People; please make sure you do not look like a sausage squished in a casing, this will only make you look larger! Men, well o.k. maybe a nice pair of skinny jeans with a lot of extra length, but please skinny jean chinos that just fit your leg length…. Not so pretty.

Men Bags, I actually like these! Yes, I did say this.  The European men are not afraid to carry men bags, they seem to select bags that are just large enough to carry their necessities and wear them cross body. Leather or canvas, and of course a neutral color and please, no bling.

Watch for more and more Palazzo pants, they were everywhere around the resort! Palazzo pants work great for daytime casual and also for evening wear.  The top and shoes make all the difference in the casual or dressy appearance.

OK, so now some of the fashion faux pas that I witnessed.

We all know that European men and many others like to wear menkini’s, well o.k. let’s just make sure they fit.  What I did not like was a bikini with extra material in the middle…. Really, not something that should be viewed on a beach.

Ladies, do you know what a mirror is? Really, you did not just put that on did you? Why would you want to squish that body into that outfit.

So all in all, the biggest fashion faux pas that we commented on as a group from many different countries, had nothing to do with style, but completely about fit! So after reading this blog, do some people watching and see if you agree; just about any outfit can look great AS LONG AS IT FITS.
