Characters in Clay Class at Marlborough Arts Center

Wes Jenks returns to the Marlborough Arts Center to teach this class, which is ideal for those who are beginners, or want to become more confident in creating a three dimensional figure in clay. His one-on-one instruction and supportive tutoring will inspire you to make the most of your sculpture and will provide you with the following information: how to use your tools, how to build-up the form using coils, scoring and “slip”, keeping your clay workable, hollowing the form and preparing it for firing, and painting it with acrylic paints. This fee includes all clay, plus a group firing. All you need to bring are a basic clay tool set, a resource for what you want your character to be (we also have books for resources if you want to experiment), and an enthusiasm for working with your hands. Basic drawing skills or an eye for details (especially of feature placement) are a plus. The class will be held at the Arts Center on 231 Main St. in Marlborough from 6:30-8:30pm on four Tuesdays and Thursdays. We plan to start the class within the next couple of weeks. Please contact Bonnie at 860-267-4584 if you are interested in attending.
