
The Community Foundation of Middlesex County was honored by the Middletown Commission on the Arts Tuesday, April 9 with the 2013 Arts Advocacy Award. Mayor Dan Drew presented the proclamation to Cynthia Clegg, president & CEO, and John Biddiscombe, Chairman of the Board of the Community Foundation.
In his remarks, Mayor Drew commended the Community Foundation for its work on behalf of the community and arts organizations, recognizing the importance of the arts in our community as a catalyst for economic sustainability and enhancing the quality of life.
In the proclamation presented to the Community Foundation, Mayor Drew proclaimed Wednesday, April 10, 2013, as
Community Foundation of Middlesex County on Arts Advocacy Day.
The Community Foundation is humbled by this recognition of its support of the arts. CFMC is proud to accept this award on behalf of the individuals, businesses, and organizations working tirelessly in the Middlesex County community to promote and sustain the arts. Thanks to the commitment and dedication of so many, the Community Foundation is able to pool community resources and leverage our collective strengths, passions, and funds for the betterment of our community.

The Community Foundation is honored to accept the 2013 Arts Advocacy award on behalf of everyone in Middlesex County. The Community Foundation works from a simple premise - the Community Foundation idea is a simple one: anyone can be a philanthropist. Anyone may use the Community Foundation to give something back to the community. The Arts Advocacy Award demonstrates Philanthropy Matters and Philanthropy Works in Middlesex County.
Community Foundation of Middlesex County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Middlesex County. Its two-fold mission is: (1) to work with charitably-minded individuals and organizations to build permanent endowments and other charitable funds; and (2) to support local nonprofit organizations through effective grant making and multiple programs to address community needs. Since its founding in 1997, the Community Foundation has provided 907 grants totaling more than $2.8 million to organizations for the arts, cultural and heritage programs, educational activities, environmental improvements, and for health and human services.
