East Hampton and Portland Facing a Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service is predicting the season's biggest snowfall to date.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory and Hazardous Weather Outlook for East Hampton and Portland beginning at midnight and running until 6 p.m. Saturday.

Here is what you need to know about this interesting and unpredictable storm. 

Snow is expected to accumulate between 3-5 inches with up to six inches possible, according to the National Weather Service. Additionally, there could be one to two tenths of an inch of ice accumulation as well.

Visibility could be reduced to a quarter of a mile Saturday morning. Snowfall rates could average an inch an hour early Saturday morning.

Moderate to heavy snow is forecast from early to mid Saturday morning before it changes to a mix including sleet and freezing rain by late morning.

Eventually, plain rain will mix in late morning and then the precipitation will turn back to snow in the late afternoon before tapering off in the evening.
