East Hampton Man Arrested After Firing Shotgun During Argument

Dispute with wife leads to arrest at gunpoint.

 

East Hampton Police arrested Kevin Supinski, 33, of 5 Abbey Road on Thursday evening after a dispute between Supinski and his wife led to a shotgun being fired.

Police were called to the residence by Supinski's wife, Nicole Supinski, at 9:14 p.m. Nicole Supinski reported that an argument had begun between her and her husband and he went down into the basement of the residence. According to police, she locked herself in an upstairs bedroom with their two children, ages 2 1/2 years and 8 months.

While police were en route, Nicole Supinski reported she had heard a gunshot downstairs in the residence. By the time the police arrived, Kevin Supinski had gone back upstairs and was trying to get into the locked bedroom where Nicole and the children were. Officers Adam Brault, John Wilson and Sgt. Michael Green then forced entry into the home and took Kevin Supinski into custody at gunpoint. He was unarmed when he was apprehended and he was arrested without further incident police said in a press release.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Kevin Supinski had intentionally fired one round with a 16 gauge shotgun in the basement of the residence. The round struck a concrete foundation wall and no injuries were sustained by anyone. The shotgun and several other long guns and one revolver were seized from the residence by police.

Kevin Supinski was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.

Supinski, a convicted felon, was held on a $100,000 bond and will be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on Friday.
