East Hampton Retailer Carried Cannabis Products With Too-Potent THC Levels: PD
Police said they found the products during a compliance check.

EAST HAMPTON, CT - Local law enforcement and state officials seized cannabis products from an East Hampton business after determining the levels of THC were too high, police said.
THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is an ingredient found in cannabis products which produces a psychoactive effect, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
On Jan. 27, East Hampton police conducted the compliance check at Hampton Tobacco & Vape, at 42 E. High St.

State officials from the Department of Consumer Protection and Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services were also involved.
According to police, “numerous products” over the legal threshold of THC were seized during the compliance check. These included vapes, edibles, cannabis flowers and extracts. The items will be destroyed, police said.

Recreational marijuana has been legal in Connecticut since 2021. However, cannabis products containing more than 5 milligrams of THC may only be sold by licensed cannabis establishments, according to police.
