East Hampton Students Make the Grade

Students in grades 3-8 performed well on the 2011 Connecticut Mastery Test.

East Hampton students performed well above the statewide averages on this year’s Connecticut Mastery Test.

Given to students in grades 3-8 each year, East Hampton students across virtually all the tested disciplines – math, reading, writing and science – outperformed the statewide average, according to figures released today by the state’s Department of Education.

The only area where East Hampton students lagged behind the state average, the release indicates, was in the results for writing on the fourth grade level, where 63 percent of the students performed at or above the goal level. Statewide, 65.5 percent of Connecticut fourth-graders performed at or above the goal in writing.
