Emcee wayne Reels (Mashantucket Pequot) explains the significance of powwows and how they sustain a sense of community for Native Americans through dancing, singing and socializing. Visitors learn about different dances and powwow etiquette while watching dancers in their colorful regalia. Guests will visit with Native artists as they demonstrate and sell works of art, including wampum and beaded jewelry, sweet grass baskets and pottery. Native cuisine is available for purchase. Grand entry is at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Well-Known storyteller Tchin (Blackfeet/Narragansett) weaves his magic at 12:30 p.m. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum members.
