SESSION DETAILS
Session 1 :June 24-28 Art & Science:THE MAD ART SCIENTIST
Make a volcano erupt, Make Slime, Make hard bubbles and experiment with the science of color. Something exciting every day!
Session 2: July 1-5 Art & Physics: LET’S MAKE THINGS FLY
Students create geometric kites and sleek paper airplanes. Measure distances; determine the best flying designs and why they were successful.
Session 3: July 8-12 Art & Movement: LET’S DANCE!
So you think you can dance? We will use the Principles of Art to explore rhythm, movement, pattern and balance.
Session 4: July 15-19 Art & Fashion: FUN WITH INK AND PRINTING
Create one of a kind wearable art by using techniques such as tie dye, batik, screen printing and Indian Henna Tattoo. Bring in a t-shirt.
Session 5: July 22-26 Art & The Mind: LEARN TO DRAW EVERYTHING
Learning to draw is an adventure. We will use techniques of the right and left brain to draw. This session will explore new ways of enhancing eye and hand coordination.
Session 6: July 29-Aug 2 Art & Elements: BUILDING BLOCKS OF VISUAL ART
The Elements of Art are the basic rules and tools artists learn to master in making all of their works. Color, line, texture, value, space, form and shape offer an unlimited variety with which to experiment.
Session 7: Aug 5-9 Art & Literacy: ILLUSTRATE: Diary of a KID Artist!
Enjoy creating stories? Students will explore sequential art (cartooning) by creating their own characters. Then using traditional storytelling elements, young artists will create very funny visual stories.
Session 8: Aug 12-16 Art & Nature: OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
We will use the Principles of Art (Scale, Unity and Emphasis) to make large still-life outdoor Masterpieces.
Session 9: Aug 19-23 Art & Recyclables: eARTh FRIENDLY: RECYCLED ART
Students will enjoy making art out of recyclable materials. This session is exciting, creative, educational and most of all, lots of fun. All sessions will be differentiated for all ages and artistic levels: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced
BEGINNER ARTISTS:
4-6 YEAR OLDS will be placed in our beginners group which will include slower pace instruction, recess and snack breaks.
INTERMEDIATE ARTISTS:
7-11 YEAR OLDS will be included in all session activities as described.
ADVANCED ARTISTS will have the option of spending 2 days with the ARTISTS APPRENTICE GROUP and work independently on portfolio preparation.
ARTISTS APPRENTICE:
12-16 YEAR OLDS will be placed in our Artists Apprentice group where they are mentored and paired with Artists in Residence. Students in the Artists Apprentice group will serve as group leaders and will work independently on portfolio-ready projects based on talent and interest.
