Former East Hampton Man Gets Life in Prison for 2004 Murder
Kelvin Daye was sentenced Thursday in the killing of Trupti Patel in East Hartford.

A local man was sentenced to live in prison without the possibility of release in the 2004 shooting and killing of an East Hartford woman.
Following two weeks of testimony, a jury found Kelvin Daye guilty of murdering Trupti Patel in the basement of her apartment building, The Hartford Courant reported.
Daye — who lived in East Hampton at the time of the murder but had connections to East Hartford — faced charges that he sexually assaulted Patel before the killing, however the jury acquitted him of that charge, the Courant reported.
Daye, a Jamiacan national, was arrested in 2011 after investigators tied his DNA to the scene of the seven-year-old crime, the Associated Press reported.
