Friends with a Cause: Choosing Health over Obsession, Obesity, and Food Addiction with Diane Smith

On June 10th, Connecticut's own Diane Smith, award winning journalist and co-author of Obsessed: America's Food Addiction and My Own will join the Community Foundation of Middlesex County's Sari A. Rosenbaum Fund for Women and Girls to share her personal stories on how a book collaboration with Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC's Morning Joe, led to a discovery of food obsession, health issues, and the power of friendship.

Friends with a Cause: Choosing Health over Obsession, Obesity, and Food Addiction with Diane Smith on June 10th at The Riverhouse in Haddam explores America's obsession with food, body image and the pressure to be thin instead of living healthier.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Sari A. Rosenbaum Fund for Women and Girls at the Community Foundation of Middlesex County. Established eleven years ago, the Fund's mission is to support programs which empower Middlesex county women and girls to be self-reliant and reach their potential. The Fund has awarded more than 66 grants totaling more than $110,000 toward programs that address: healthy lifestyles and body image, health care, parenting skills, conflict resolution, and domestic violence.
