High School Students Sought for Popular Summer Arts Program at Wesleyan

The Capitol Region Education Council’s Center for Creative Youth (CCY) seeks talented high school students to apply to participate in the 37th annual Summer Arts Residency program. The program still has openings in Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Musical Theater, Visual Arts, Dance, and Creative Writing. Students entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade, who demonstrate or have potential talent are encouraged to apply as soon as possible for the few openings left in this renowned residential-only program. Apply now by visiting www.crec.org/ccy. CCY is a pre-college program that will take place from June 30 – July 27, 2013, on the campus of Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. CCY offers students four weeks of intensive study in one of nine (9) arts disciplines. All courses are taught by professional artist/instructors, and student programming includes afternoon interdisciplinary elective classes. Students attend concerts and live events weekly, have opportunities to perform and exhibit their work at Wesleyan’s Center for the Arts facilities, participate in leadership training seminars, and develop lifelong friendships in a community of gifted and talented young artists from all over the country and abroad. Highlights of this summer’s program include Summer Artist Residencies by internationally known artists who will offer Master Classes and workshops. Academic credit is available from many districts throughout the state. Applications can be filled out online at www.crec.org/ccy or can be requested by emailing ccy@crec.org. Program costs are $2,000 for tuition and $1,600 for room & board, totaling $3,600. This includes all meals, tickets to concerts, and trips. Entry into the program requires an audition or portfolio review, interview, and letters of recommendation. Auditions and interviews will be scheduled as soon as we receive your application. Limited financial aid may still be available based on need and talent. Students applying for financial assistance must complete the Financial Aid Form in the full application. For more information, including a short video about the CCY program, visit the CCY website at www.crec.org/ccy.
