Portland Library presents "Trap Rock in Connecticut"
Monday, August 12th at 6:30 pm
Learn about the uniqueness of CT’s Trap Rock!
Two great geologic forces formed the trap rock ridges: voicanism and erosion. Two hundred million years ago, when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, volcanoes forced out great flows of lava through long cracks in the floor of the Connecticut Valley.
Presented by Peter M. LeTourneau, president of Mark GeoEnvironmental Sciences, L.L.C., and an associate research scientist at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University.
