Projected Snow Totals In for East Hampton, Portland's Weekend Storm

Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan says: “Midday European computer model shows a pretty substantial winter storm on Saturday [Jan. 24]. It will be a strong but compact system with a narrow band of heavy snow. Still too early to pin down exactly where that heavy snow will fall but it’s absolutely worth watching!”

Meteorologist Gil Simmons says: “I am holding steady on my thoughts for accumulating ‪snow‬ for‪ ‎Connecticut‬ Saturday!”

Since the earlier report noting the possibility of six inches of snow, the National Weather Service updated its forecast with projected accumulation totals for the Saturday, Jan. 24, storm.

The Most Current NWS Forecast

• Wednesday Night: A chance of light snow, mainly after 9 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 21. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

• Thursday: A slight chance of light snow before 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 36. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. North wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

• Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 17. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.

• Friday: Sunny, with a high near 36. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

• Friday Night: A slight chance of snow after 4 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 24. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

• Saturday: A chance of snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 1 p.m., then rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

• Saturday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32.

• Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14.

• Monday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
