Urgent Need for Make-A-Wish Volunteers in East Hampton Area

Make-A-Wish CT is currently looking for individuals to become Wish Granting Volunteers to help make wishes come true.

The mission of Make-A-Wish is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. If you would be interested in sharing your time to help grant wishes to children when they need it most, the need has never been greater. The Connecticut chapter of Make-A-Wish has seen a dramatic increase in the number of children they are reaching each year, which has resulted in this great need for volunteers to help fulfill their vision of granting every eligible wish in the state.

Wish Granters sign up to work on specific wishes and become liaisons to the chapter staff for Wish Families. Wish Granters will meet with future Wish Kids and help them determine their one true wish. They then work with the staff and the Wish Family to help in delivering that wish and making it a reality.

“Our chapter has seen a 30% increase in eligible wish kids this year, and so our need for Wish Granting Volunteers has grown significantly,” stated Nicole Miles, Volunteer Coordinator for Make-A-Wish Connecticut. “The impact a wish has on a child with a life-threatening medical condition is incredible, but so is the experience of the volunteers that work with our Wish Kids. They come away from a wish knowing they’ve changed a child’s life, which is an unbelievably rewarding experience.”

Volunteers are needed throughout the state, but there is an urgent need for volunteers in these areas:

About the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut, Inc.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Wish-come-true experiences can do wonders by providing a much-needed break from lengthy hospital stays and medical treatments. They give back to a child what a serious medical condition can take away—the chance to simply enjoy being a kid. Wish kids choose something that will inspire happiness, and allow them to spend precious time with their families. The Connecticut chapter has made over 2,500 wishes come true since its inception in 1986.
