V-J Day Candlelight Ceremony Remembers Deceased Veterans
The 6th annual candlelight ceremony at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home/Iwo Jima Memorial will take place on Saturday, August 16.

The Iwo Jima Memorial Historical Foundation, Inc. and Newington Memorial Funeral Home will host the 6th annual V-J Day Candlelight Ceremony of Remembrance on Saturday, August 16.
The public is invited to attend this free event and participate in this solemn ceremony by remembering a deceased loved one who served at any time in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a formal escorted procession to the National Iwo Jima Memorial where the lighting of candles will take place.
Those interested in attending are asked to first go the Newington Memorial and take the shuttle bus to the memorial following the ceremony. Parking at the memorial is limited to elderly, handicap, presenters and motorcycles.

In case of rain, the entire event will take place at the funeral home.
