2 East Haven Firefighter/Paramedics Cited for Saving a Life
The two firefighters will be receiving an award for saving a local resident's life.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Town of East Haven Firefighter/Paramedics Brian Arms and Richard DePonte are being recognized by the Yale New Haven Sponsor Hospital Program for a “cardiac arrest save” that took place last summer. Arms and DePonte will be receiving an EMS award at a ceremony taking place in Yale New Haven Sponsor Hospital on May 19th at 1:00 pm, town officials said in a news release.
The two emergency service professionals will be receiving the award for the life saving treatment of a 58 year-old East Haven resident, who suffered a medical emergency that led to cardiac arrest, on August 8th of last year. DePonte is a 14-year veteran of the department; while Brian Arms began his career with the EHFD as a Firefighter D/Paramedic in August of 2015.
Yale New Haven Sponsor Hospital Program is the agency that provides oversight to local paramedics and recognizes them annually for actions that have displayed pre-hospital excellence.
