4 East Haven Police Officers Praised For Heroic Efforts In Saving Nick Vessicchio, 16
A tree fell on the teen when he was mowing the lawn in July. Several firefighters will also be honored for their rescue roles too.

EAST HAVEN, CT ā Four East Haven police officers were recognized at the most recent Board of Police Commissioners meeting for their heroic efforts to help a 16-year-old boy who was severely injured in July when a tree fell on him while he was mowing his lawn.
Sergeant Joseph Mulhern and Officers John Finnimore, Molly Perry and Fred Sego were lauded for the care they provided Nick Vessicchio on July 27.

The commission stated that it was through the work of the four that Nick was āsuccessfully resuscitated prior to arriving at the emergency departmentā at Yale-New Haven hospital for further treatment.
Nick was mowing his lawn on Jeffrey Road when the tree fell on him. Firefighters and firefighter paramedics from the East Haven Fire Department will also be recognized for the same rescue effort at the October meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners, said Matthew Marcarelli, who is the Fire Chief.

"This was a multiagency effort between Police and Fire Departments that led to successful rescue effort," Marcarelli said. "At the same meeting firefighter paramedics will also be recognized for 2 cardiac arrest saves."
