Arrest Made In Child Sexual Assault Case

EAST HAVEN, CT — A 39-year-old man has been charged by police with sexually assaulting a girl in his family. Police say that Enrrique Herazo molested a family member on several different occasions. The New Haven man was arrested, charged and released on $50,000 bail.

According to police, the investigation began after a June 22 call to a North Street address for the sexual assault of a girl. Police said the girl had "made concerning statements" to a friend via social media suggesting that she had been sexually assaulted. The friend called police to make sure the girl was okay.

East Haven police detectives spoke to the girl and she told them she'd been sexually assaulted by Herazo on several occasions when she was alone with him and described "several encounters in which Herazo created reasons to be alone with the victim, where the sex assaults occurred."

Police arrested Herazo after an arrest warrant was issued and charged him with four counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and four counts of risk of injury to a minor. He was presented in court, posted $50,000 bond and was released, police said.
