Quick Police Response Helps Deliver Baby on I-95 Successfully

The baby's parents are from East Haven.

A baby boy was born on the I-95 shoulder after his mother went into labor this morning.

Bryan Carter Vilfranche was delivered by EMS in the back of an ambulance, according to the Connecticut Post.

The southbound shoulder near exit 16 in Norwalk was closed as the baby was being delivered. He was transported to Norwalk Hospital.

Father Ricardo Vilfranche said he realized that he was out of time when his wife’s screams turned into yells and her contractions were just two minutes apart.

Troopers from Troop G and a Norwalk Police officer responded after he called 911, according to NBC Connecticut. They helped mother Ann Victorin out of the vehicle.

The baby started crowning just after 8 a.m. and a paramedic finished the delivery in an ambulance.

Both troopers who helped deliver the baby hadn’t done the procedure before, but were trained to do so. Bryan’s parents live in East Haven.
