From The Bench: East Haven Boys Basketball Have No Quit in Them

There is no quit in the East Haven boys basketball team. After getting their first win vs Jonathan Law Monday night the Yellowjackets next opponent was home Wednesday night against the Governors of Wilbur Cross. East Haven stayed within striking distance for the entire game but the Governors had too much firepower on offense. That didn’t stop Edward “Pop” Popolizio who had a tremendous game on both sides of the ball and led the Easties with 24 points followed by Jeremiah Cureton with 10.

At the end of the first half East Haven was down 11 points and was trailing 36-25. They would eventually close the gap to 9 points but that was as close as they would get. The yellowjackets showed great hustle and determination as every player continued to give 100% as they always do until the final buzzer which showed the Governors winning 59-48. Based on the effort that I witnessed last night I see more wins for the Yellowjackets in the near future.
