East Haven Town Council and Their Town Jobs

Yesterday we exposed Mayor Joseph Maturo’s plans to line his pockets and enrich his bank account on the backs of the Tax Payers of the Town of East Haven.

Next Tuesday night, August 7, 2018 at 7pm, two veterans of the East Haven Town Council will be at the table to vote on the Mayor’s idea. KEN MCKAY Ken is known as Joe Maturo’s right hand man and has been involved with the Maturo Administration since 1997 when Maturo was first elected. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Town Council. There isn’t anything Ken wouldn’t do for Joe and it’s well known that Ken is always looking for reciprocity from Mayor Joe, especially when it comes to getting his kids jobs in the Town. What will Ken be looking for this time?

Ken could also benefit greatly from this latest scheme from Maturo because he too is a retiree of the East Haven Fire Department and is collecting a disability pension. He like Joe, is prohibited from working for the Town and collecting a pension. However, this idea could open the door for a possible run for Town Clerk and maybe rekindle his aspirations to run for Mayor himself. If you’re a betting person odds are that Ken McKay will vote in favor of Mayor Joe’s Scheme. BOB PARENTE - Bob currently serves in the Maturo Administration as the Superintendent of Public Works for the Town of East Haven. His position serves at the behest of the Mayor and is truly the most political job there is in Town. There is no doubt that if Bob wants to keep his position he better do what Maturo wants.

Bob is also the Republican Town Chairman and also is rumored to be a State Representative Candidate for the 99th District race which is coming up this Fall. So what will Bob do? If in Vegas bet the house that he falls in line he sticks with Maturo all the way. Will they have the courage to say no? Past history would suggest they will bow down to Joe Maturo and kiss the ring. Ken McKay (R) went along with the Mayor in 2002 when he schemed the first attempt to fleece his pockets and brought in the infamous 457b plan. At the time the council was all Republican but there were two councilmen who stood up and said no! Sadly, neither one of them are there today to oppose this latest grab by Maturo.

In 2002, Parente was a member of the East Haven Board of Education but was a Maturo loyalist. There are 15 elected members of the East Haven Town Council and it will take 8 members to take a stand to oppose the Mayor from collecting over $188,000 per year for the rest of his natural life. We need the room packed to voice your opinion about this outrageous money grab by Maturo.

Maybe Joe knows something we don’t. Maybe he knows that Carbone v Maturo starting on September 12, 2018 could be the beginning of the end of the Maturo Administration and he needs a little insurance to set up hi nest in Florida with.
