East Haven/West Haven Funeral Director Re-Elected to Board of State Assn.

Albert M. DeLucia has been elected to serve a second term on the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association’s (CFDA) Executive Committee. A third-generation funeral director/embalmer, DeLucia is Vice-President of Porto Funeral Homes, with locations at 234 Foxon Rd. in East Haven and 830 Jones Hill Rd. in West Haven.

DeLucia became a funeral director/embalmer in 1982 after receiving his professional schooling at the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. He is the grandson of the late Albert L. and Mary Connelly Porto Sr. who opened Porto Funeral Home in 1931. Today, he operates both funeral homes with his mother, Anne Marie Porto DeLucia, and his brother, Clem DeLucia, who is the firm’s President.


A resident of North Haven, DeLucia is married to Maria Perricone DeLucia. Their son, Michael, recently completed his professional schooling in funeral service at the New England Institute of Mortuary Science at Mount Ida College in Dedham, Mass. and is working at the funeral homes.

The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) is comprised of funeral directors at more than 220 funeral homes. The 2017 Officers and Executive Committee elections were held during the association’s 128th Annual Convention in December. Founded in 1889, the Wethersfield-based association is committed to the promotion and advocacy of high ethical standards in funeral service. This includes the development and presentation of ongoing professional training opportunities for practitioners and educational programs for association members and the public.
