Four Schools in East Haven to Get Funds For Security Improvements
State will pay for two-thirds of the cost of improving security at four schools in East Haven; the town will pay the remainder of cost.

EAST HAVEN, CT - East Haven is one of the town's that will be receiving state funding to enhance security infrastructure at four of its schools. East Haven will be spending $80,000, the rest - $179,000 - is being footed by the state.
Governor Dannel Malloy Friday announced the grants which total $10 million that will be used for 182 public and private school in 51 towns across the state. The funds were approved under the School Security Grant Program that was created in 2013 as part of a broad legislative package focusing on gun violence prevention, mental health and school security issues.
To date the state has made $53 million available to over 1,200 schools in three separate rounds of funding.

"We have a moral obligation to provide a safe learning environment for out students," Malloy said.
