While speaking to the Chief, he was called to a storm-related incident: downed tree limbs, laden with heavy wet snow, dragging power lines with them in the area of the 690 block of Thompson Street, right before the intersection of Valley View, he said.

"The road is currently impassible," Marcarelli told Patch. Meanwhile, on the same street, a downed tree in a resident's yard is not a hazard to the public.

Coe Avenue, which flooded, has since largely receded, but the state road is not yet plowed. Marcarelli hopes that's done before icing over.

Around 8 a.m., Marcarelli shared a video surveying areas of town.

"Hey, East Haven, this is your 10 o’clock update between now and 6 PM. We are anticipating a couple more heavy bands of snow along with winds that will cause drifting. Public works is working diligently to make sure the roads are open. There are some isolated power outages, specifically in the Thompson Street area around the 600 block, where lines are down due to a tree."

So far, no sign of United Illuminating, Marcarelli said, noting the utility's priority is to "deenergize where life is in danger and then to open roads."
