East Haven 24-Year-Old Suffers Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Injuries In New Haven Double Shooting: PD (patch.com) — A New Haven shooting Thursday evening left a 21-year-old man critically injured and a 24-year-old East Haven man with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, according to police. Officers responded to ShotSpotter alerts and 911 calls near Mead Street and Judson Avenue, and investigators say the incident does not appear random as they seek tips from the public.

East Haven Fire Welcomes Mason Hallstrom As Newest Firefighter/Paramedic (patch.com) — East Haven residents are welcoming Mason Hallstrom as the fire department's newest firefighter and paramedic recruit, with training at the Connecticut Fire Academy starting Monday. After completing the program and earning medical authorization, he'll join a shift in town, continuing a family tradition of public safety service connected to both East Haven Fire and New Haven Police.
   

3. Three arrested in New Haven with 'ghost guns,' police say (ctpost.com) — An East Haven man is among three people charged after New Haven police say they recovered unserialized "ghost guns" and a modified automatic weapon in the Newhallville neighborhood Wednesday night. Officers stopped the group near Bassett Street, later arresting them on the Farmington Canal Line and charging them with multiple firearm and interference offenses.
   

4. Branford high school football preview 2026 (sheltonherald.com) — East Haven football fans will see their team host Branford in a Thanksgiving morning SCC matchup on Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. Branford returns standout running back Rhamell Fairclough and veteran quarterback Chris McKittrick, but faces a tougher schedule after narrowly missing the Class M playoffs last season.
   

5. Greenwich students start academic year in a brand-new, 125,000-square-foot Central Middle School (nhregister.com) — East Haven families are among thousands statewide whose students returned to school this week, with local kids starting classes on Thursday. A new 125,000-square-foot middle school opened in Greenwich, and all Connecticut public school students now receive free breakfast, with possible new limits on cellphones and classroom screen time also on the horizon.
