The owner told Fox that the dog was not vicious and this was the first time she had seen him being aggressive.
According to the New Haven Register, the officer, Gregory Borer, called Animal Control who arrived on the scene moments later and authorized payment for the dog’s medical bills. The owner of the dog did not have the ability to pay for the medical expenses. Officer Owen Little, who authorized the payment told the paper he made the decision to save the dog’s life but did not do so out of guilt.

Tucker was taken to the Central Hospital for Veterinarian Medicine in North Haven and released the same evening.
The owner was fined as Tucker was not registered with the town and had not been vaccinated, the Register reports. The owner was also fined for letting the dog roam into the neighborhood.
According to the Register, the owner does not blame the police officer but is wondering why the event escalated so fast.
