SEARS Credit card

A lesson to be learned.

A moment ago I sent this letter to Sears and the thought that our experience could serve as a warning will explain why despite its personal nature, we've decided it is worth sharing.

Good morning.

In an attempt to determine the reason why the over-payment balance ($5K+) on our SEARS credit card account, which 2 weeks before I had requested we be refunded, using your email system to convey that request and which to this day we still have yet to receive, prompted me to call your department, once more.

A week ago, in fact, I have also reached out and spoke with another representative asking the same question and was told that instead of mailing the balance, she would arrange to have it transferred electronically and asked for the relevant information i.e., our bank checking account number, routing number.

That it would take at least 3-5 days for the transfer to take place. That did not happen.

Yesterday I contacted your department about it and was informed that my request is being reviewed because it is a “large amount”. An explanation so incredulous it challenges the mind for that amount is not even SEARS money. It was an OVER-PAYMENT made by us.

Subsequently, SEARS should not falsely claim it as its own and forcibly keep it.

Furthermore, to be told that a second review to effect that refund was necessary because “it is a large amount” and because the referral was only received 2-days ago (today) was naturally upsetting because it is an obvious attempt at deception.

And SEARS is perpetrating this fraud because it is SEARS emboldened no doubt that against its billions, what could a lowly consumer do?

I must admit that hearing those implausible explanations only heightened my suspicion that SEARS, because of its financial setbacks is now engaged in a duplicitous behavior to deprive us (and who knows who else?) of money we own, in an effort no doubt to portray a picture of solvency to the public, which, to our minds at least, is clearly, patently, false.

But that is not an excuse for my surly behavior for which I apologize sincerely for and hope that all of you could find the understanding to forgive.

Thank you for reading this.
