Woman Turns Herself In For Knifepoint Robbery: East Haven Police
The accused learned that her photo was being circulated in the media and she decided to turn herself in, police said.

EAST HAVEN, CT – The woman who is charged with robbing a gas station on Foxon Road at knifepoint on Thursday night turned herself into East Haven police on Friday, said Police Lt. Joseph M. Murgo.
Charona Lewis, 30, came into East Haven police headquarters on Friday and said she was responsible for the robbery at the Citgo gas station on 957 Foxon Road on Thursday night, police said.
She was transported to court on Friday for arraignment on first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny and is currently being held on $100,000 bond.

Police said that they received many tips after photo images of Lewis was released to the media Thursday night. They said word quickly got to Lewis about her photo being released – and she quickly turned herself in, admitting to her involvement in the robbery and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
East Haven police said they would like to thank the media and the public’s help for swiftly and safely apprehending this dangerous robbery suspect.
