Youth Driving A Stolen SUV Hit A Car, Seriously Injuring A Woman
East Haven Police helped the Rye NY Police find a Ford Explorer stolen from its town. The juvenile driving it hit a car while fleeing cops.
EAST HAVEN, CT — Thursday morning, the Rye, New York Police Department called East Haven Public Safety dispatchers to let law enforcement know they were tracking a stolen Ford Explorer through the FordPass Application.
It was in East Haven.
The New York officers said the SUV had been stolen five hours earlier, at around 4 a.m. from Rye. The officers said the people who stole the Explorer might have a handgun. Rye police continued to give location updates as East Haven Police officers got closer to its location spotting the stolen SUV in the area of Gerrish Avenue. They tried to pull it over but the ignored police and kept driving eastbound on Dodge Avenue to Hemingway Avenue, then as it was driving on Hemingway, it struck a vehicle at the intersection of Hemingway Avenue and Main Street.

The person driving the stolen SUV is a juvenile. Uninjured, he was taken into custody and brought to the police station for processing. But the female driver of the vehicle he struck was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with serious physical injuries. Police said her "exact condition is unknown at this time."
The New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office and The Connecticut State Police C.A.R.S. Unit were called in to lead the investigation, which remains active at this time. The area of Hemingway Avenue and Main Street has since re-opened. The Connecticut State Police C.A.R.S. Unit have taken over this investigation and all subsequent inquiries should be directed to them.
