Chief Ray Stovall Announced as New Fire Chief for the Town of Somers

Somers, CT — The Somers Fire Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Ray Stovall as the new Fire Chief for the Town of Somers.

Chief Stovall brings more than a decade of service with the Somers Fire Department, most recently serving as Captain. He also has extensive experience as a firefighter, fire officer, and emergency medical provider with multiple agencies and municipalities throughout the region. Chief Stovall holds numerous professional certifications and has a strong background in leadership, training, and emergency operations.

The department also recognizes and thanks Chief David Lenart for his service and leadership. During his tenure, Chief Lenart focused on improving staffing levels, expanding departmental capabilities, and strengthening training programs in fire protection and suppression, technical rescue, and vehicle extrication. He also worked toward purchasing a light-duty rescue truck as well as acquiring a UTV through a program from the State of Connecticut. Once placed into service, these assets will enhance the department’s ability to respond to a wide variety of incidents within the community.

The Somers Fire Department extends its gratitude to Chief Lenart for his dedication to the town and wishes him continued success in his future endeavors. The department looks forward to Chief Stovall’s leadership as he assumes his new role and continues to build upon the department’s mission of protecting the residents of Somers.
