Ellington Murder Case Gets Continuance

Richard Dabate is accused of murdering his wife two days before Christmas in 2015.

VERNON/ELLINGTON, CT — The case of the Ellington man accused of murdering his wife two days before Christmas in 2015 has been continued to July 28, a clerk at the court said.

Richard Dabate filed an appearance in Rockville Superior Court on Friday. He had last appeared in May.

Also last month, Marliese Shaw, the sister of his murdered wife, was named the executor of Connie Dabate's estate. Probate Judge O. James Purnell III has also removed Richard Dabate as executor and has ordered assets frozen.

Connie Dabate was 39 at the time of her death, and Richard Dabate is 40. There are surviving sons, ages 10 and 8.

Richard Dabate is currently out on a $1 million bond while facing charges that include murder, evidence tampering and making false statements in the shooting death of Connie. Family homes were used to secure the bond.
