Stainless Steel Smudged? Get it Clean!

We know that cleaning the stainless steel can be a pain, but it doesn't have to be.

Sure, we all love our stainless steel appliances and their sleek look – until they are covered with fingerprints and smudges.

We know that cleaning the stainless steel can be a pain, but it doesn’t have to be.

The first thing to know is that different companies use different grades and types of stainless steel, which means each appliance may need to be cleaned differently or with different brands of cleaners.

Once you’ve got your cleaner, put it on a microfiber cloth – preferably one that is designed for stainless steel – and clean quickly. You don’t want to let the cleaner dry on the stainless before buffing it in to the surface.

When applying the cleaner, you will want to wipe your cloth in the direction of the grain of the stainless steel. This is because dirt can get trapped in the grain of the stainless steel, and it will be and appear much cleaner this way.

If you aren’t a fan of traditional cleaners, there are some home methods you can try.

One thing to try is white vinegar. Apply it directly to the cloth and wipe in the direction of the grain of the stainless steel. Clean off the excess with a microfiber cloth.

You can also try club soda. Spray it directly on the appliances and wipe in the direction of the grain of the stainless steel. Again, clean off the excess with a microfiber cloth.

Olive oil or baby oil may also work. You can apply them to a cloth and wipe on an already clean appliance to buff and protect against fingerprints and smudges.

If you still can’t get your stainless steel clean, try window spray. Some people swear by it.
