A Supreme Vocalist to Perform at Upcoming Enfield Italian Festival

A member of music royalty will be making her way to Enfield in just over a month.

Mary Wilson, a founding member of the Supremes, will be performing at the on Aug. 4.

Wilson, the only member of the legendary Motown trio to remain with the group throughout its existence, will be singing alongside , daughter of the late Dean Martin, who will be making her third consecutive appearance at the festival.

"We're really excited to have Mary coming here," Society president Carl Sferrazza said.

Now 68, Wilson was just 17 when she helped form a group known as the Primettes with Diana Ross and Florence Ballard. The group's name was changed to the Supremes in 1962, and after an initial period of struggle, the trio caught fire by scoring 12 number one singles in the U.S., beginning with "Where Did Our Love Go" in 1964.

After Ballard and Ross both left the group, Wilson carried on with a series of replacement singers until disbanding the act in 1977. She has been performing solo ever since, and in 1986, released her autobiography, Dreamgirl: My Life as a Supreme.

The Supremes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
