Assistant Town Manager Leaving Enfield

Derrik Kennedy has accepted a town manager position out of state.

For the second time in five weeks, a high-level Enfield administrator has accepted an offer to become town manager in another state.

Derrik Kennedy, who has served as assistant town manager for just under two years, has been selected as the next town manager in Westerly, R.I., according to the Westerly Sun.

The Westerly Town Council unanimously approved Kennedy at a meeting Monday night.

“I’m very excited. It’s a great opportunity for me. I’m excited to work in this community with the council and I look forward to learning more about the community and getting to work,” Kennedy told the Sun following the meeting.

Kennedy’s imminent departure comes on the heels of the resignation of Town Manager Matt Coppler, who is leaving Sept. 25 to become city manager in Lincoln Park, Mich.

An Old Saybrook resident, Kennedy is slated to begin his new job Oct. 5, pending a clean background check, according to the Sun.
