Bed Bath & Beyond Announces Imminent Closure Of Enfield Store
Signs announcing the impending closure of the Enfield location were posted over the weekend.

ENFIELD, CT — The struggling Bed Bath & Beyond chain of houseware stores, which had recently closed Connecticut locations in Stamford and Waterford, will soon be shuttering its Enfield store.
Over the weekend, signs reading "Store Closing," "Everything Must Go!," "Nothing Held Back!" and "Entire Store 20% Off" were posted in the windows of the Brookside Plaza store, which ironically opened on this date, Jan. 30, in 2007. No indication has yet been made as to when the final day of business will be.
The New Jersey-based retailer announced in August it would be closing about 150 of its more than 900 locations nationwide. Late last week, CBS News reported a securities filing indicated the company had defaulted on loans, and was considering restructuring its debt in bankruptcy court.

In addition to Enfield, remaining Bed Bath & Beyond stores in Connecticut are in Brookfield, Fairfield, Guilford, Hamden, Manchester, Norwalk, Simsbury, Southington and Wethersfield. There is no word as of late Monday morning whether those locations will be affected, as company spokesperson Julie Strider has not yet responded to an inquiry from Patch.
A store closing sale is ongoing in Hamden, and employees at the Southington and Wethersfield locations confirmed to Patch on Monday that they too are in the midst of store closing sales there. It was also revealed that the Fairfield location is also closing.
