Enfield Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

The teenager is suspected of attempting to rob a Route 5 bank in November, according to police.

ENFIELD, CT — A Massachusetts teenager was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with the attempted robbery of a bank on Route 5 in early November, police said.

Storlen J. Webster, 19, of Springfield, Mass., was charged with criminal attempt to first-degree robbery. He was arraigned Friday in Enfield Superior Court and is being held on $10,000 bond, according to judicial records.

On Nov. 2, 2016, police were dispatched to Santander Bank on Enfield Street with a report that an armed robbery had just occurred. A young man handed a teller a note demanding $10,000 in cash and stating he had a gun, but when the teller replied they didn't have thqat much money, the suspect fled, Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said.

Police issued an alert for a light-skinned black male, 16 or 17 years old, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. A surveillance video was distributed to local media, which led to development of the case against Webster, Sferrazza said.

Webster is due back in court April 28.
