Enfield Native Promoted To President/CEO Of Local Credit Union

An Enfield graduate worked his way up the ranks for 14 years to earn the top position at the Enfield Community Federal Credit Union.

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield native who has worked his way up the ranks in 14 years at the Enfield Community Federal Credit Union recently reached the pinnacle with his appointment as president and CEO.

Nicholas L. Major, a 2005 graduate of Enfield High School and holder of an associate degree in business management from Asnuntuck Community College, takes over the top executive position vacated by the retirement of Myron Kolinsky in the fall.

Major began his career at the credit union as a member service representative in early 2010. Since then, he has filled several roles, including back office operations and vice president, before his recent promotion.

In May 2017, Major completed a two-year executive education program through the Connecticut Credit Union League.

Enfield Community Federal Credit Union has a long history of supporting its members. It was chartered on Oct. 19, 1936 as the Bigelow-Sanford Employees Credit Union to serve the local carpet mill’s employees. In 1971, when the carpet company moved south, the credit union was granted a community charter and an expanded field of membership. Its charter was expanded to admit all those who live and work in Hartford County, Somers, Ellington, Stafford and their families.

The credit union now serves over 3,700 members who live, work and worship in Enfield and surrounding towns.
